Varicose veins are inflamed vessels that are visible through the skin. These vessels are misshapen, often curved and lumpy to the touch; whereas a healthy vein would be straight and hidden beneath the skin. Coloration varies from red to blue-purple.
You may be asking yourself, “How can I be sure that I have varicose veins?” You may experience pain, aching, fatigue, swelling, itching, the sensation of pressure and cramping. Bleeding and skin ulcers are more severe, yet uncommon symptoms. You can also visually identify these vessels, which are typically swollen and curvy.
Treatments range from prescribed medications (side effects may be a risk), to injections. Laser treatment can be a more comfortable alternative. The waves from the laser burns away the walls of the targeted veins. This should eventually abolish the swollen veins with one to three frequent sessions.
