Chemical peels are a great, non-invasive treatment designed to treat old, unhealthy skin and help rejuvenate your appearance! A chemical solution is applied on the skin and exfoliates the top layer of old, dull skin to reveal beautiful and glowing skin underneath. This new layer of skin is fresher and healthier than the old layer. Chemical peels also help treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scars and brown spots such as freckles, age spots or sun spots. Why Chemical Peels?
There is a wide variety of types of chemical peels designed to help you achieve different results. Superficial peels, such as glycolic or lactic acid peels, only remove the very top layer of skin and is best suited to help you instantly achieve smoother and shinier skin. Your skin might be slightly red or flaky after treatment, but you can return right back to your day’s activities after your treatment. Medium depth peels are stronger and can be used to treat moderately damaged or aged skin. These can leave your skin looking pink for several days after treatment, and can take several weeks to stop peeling completely. Deep peels can help reduce the appearance of scarring and severe lines and wrinkles. These treatments usually leave your skin red and swollen, and may require you to take several days to recover. What Is Treatment Like?
You may feel some mild stinging or burning during your treatment, but this shouldn’t last very long. If you receive a medium or deep peel, you may be given some local anesthetic to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Superficial and medium depth treatments generally take less than 30 minutes, and deep peels take about 90 minutes. Several treatments may be required to achieve the best results.*
