Deciding between Radiesse and Botox can be very hard. Both are tried and true injectables that are very effective tools in the fight against aging. However, both work very differently, and so the treatment that will work best for you depends on the types of wrinkles you have and the results that you want to see. Here is a comparison of both treatments to help you make your decision.
Radiesse is a dermal filler that works by filling in lines and wrinkles under the skin. It is made of calcium microspheres that are suspended in a watery gel. Once injected, the gel dissolves, leaving the microspheres to fill in creases and plump up the skin. Radiesse, like the other dermal fillers, are better suited to treat folds and static wrinkles.
Your results should be apparent within 2 weeks after treatment, and generally last about 9 to 12 months.
Botox, on the other hand, is considered a neuromodulator. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles that etch lines into our faces and freezing them. This allows these existing lines to smooth away and helps to slow the formation of new ones. Because of this, Botox is ideal for treating dynamic wrinkles that are visible when we make certain facial expressions.
Botox results usually take about a week to appear and last for 3 months. See for yourself what Botox results look like here.
Another thing to consider is that you do not necessarily have to choose one treatment over the other.
