Radiesse or Juvederm. How can you choose between these two great dermal filler treatments? Both are FDA approved to smooth out facial lines and wrinkles. Here is a comparison that can help you to choose a treatment plan that will work best for you.
Both Juvederm and Radiesse are considered very versatile treatments and can be used on a number of areas on the face, including laugh lines, marionette lines, and creases around the mouth. Both of these treatments are relatively painless, and are often mixed with an anesthetic called Lidocaine to reduce discomfort.
The biggest difference between Juvederm and Radiesse is their composition. Juvederm is made from a gel-like substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is naturally found in your body. When injected into the treatment area, it binds to water molecules and helps to plump up the skin and smooth out the creases in our face. Radiesse, on the other hand, is made of calcium microspheres suspended in a watery gel. These microspheres provide a scaffold for the skin while simultaneously stimulating collagen growth to help restore fullness to the face. In addition, while Juvederm generally lasts between 3 to 6 months, Radiesse results tend to last between 9 to 18 months.
